About politics and America

I am not a Democrat nor am I a Republican. I am not even an independent. I am just who I am and I live by the truth regardless of what side of society it happens to be politically advantageous for. Of course I am human, I have my own biases but that doesn't make me see everything through that lens. I see each political side basically tying themselves in to pretzels trying to rationalize and justify the unjustifiable. I am embarrassed at the lack of personal courage and backbone of my government.

I woke up this morning and turned the news on and the first thing I saw was a tweet by the American president declaring war on an American city. Threatening to bring the military in to Chicago. The tweet was "you are about to find out why we call it the department of war". His supporters will just laugh it off as " oh that's just Trump being Trump". The people who hateTtrump will act like the world is ending.

As a 47 year old man who only knows the life of an American, this is not American. This is different. Especially when you turn the TV on and actually see military members in American cities. At least he pretended he was sending them to help those cities, here he is saying his true motives out loud, he wants to go to war against those who didn't support him.

Then I watched all the victims of Epstein hold a news conference, they are trying to get everything released in to the open regarding those who sexually assaulted them. They have 215 Democrats behind them and 4 Republicans. That means there are approx 214 Republicans against making public what the government has been covering up about a sexual predator and all the billionaires that was a part of it. You have women who were raped as children bravely standing in front of cameras for the whole world to see begging for the government to give them justice and Trump and his administration put out a tweet telling any Republican who signs on to release this info will be seen by Trump as hostile towards him and his White House.

Am I missing something or is that disgusting? What is he hiding? During his campaign he made all these promises about how he would release all of the Epstein files if he won and now he says anyone who tries to release them will be seen as his enemy? Listen, I am under no circumstances one of those "never Trumpers" nor do I suffer from what they call "Trump derangement syndrome", as I said in the beginning, I just follow the truth and then judge it in accordance with my morales and values. I feel like I am in the twilight zone when I see people actually defending all of this? Is something wrong with me? Am I missing something? Am I being too closed minded to think and expect everyone would see these specific issues the way I do? Is there really another acceptable viewpoint other than this is just wrong?

I know that I have been in prison for some time now and I may not see things so clearly. What do you think? How do you see it? Is America changing? I have 12 years left if I am not able to get it shortened through the court and I worry about what I will be coming home to. Don't get me wrong, I would be happy to get out and live under a bridge rather than be here, but I am for sure anxious that things are changing radically for the worse. Again, I am not a political person, I'm just worried. If anyone is reading this who lives in other countries besides America, I would be interested in knowing how America is seen from where you live? Have we always been seen that way or has things changed recently for the worse? Are politics so negative and decisive in your country? I keep telling myself that I am going to stop watching the news but it´s not so easy, I think I am addicted:-)

I hope that whoever is reading this has a good day and that you smile and laugh at least 3 times today, you deserve it! Be safe.

Richard......

PS. Happy belated Grandparents Day!!!!!!!
